Visits & booking
What dental services does Smilo Family Dental offer?
Complete family dentistry under one roof: checkups and cleanings, fillings and repairs, teeth whitening, ClearCorrect clear aligners, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, and wisdom teeth extraction — all guided by a minimally invasive philosophy.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Use our online booking page, or call or text (519) 474-0220. We’re open until 6:00 pm Monday to Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 8:00 am.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Every six months works well for most people. Regular visits let us catch small issues while they’re still small — and cheap — to fix. If your gums or health history call for a different schedule, we’ll recommend one and explain why.
Do you provide emergency dental services?
Yes — we keep time open for same-day emergency appointments. If you’re in pain, call or text (519) 474-0220 as early in the day as you can. We don’t have an after-hours line, so outside opening hours: go to an emergency department for swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, a suspected broken jaw, uncontrolled bleeding, or a knocked-out adult tooth — and for anything else, call us first thing and we’ll get you in the next day. What counts as a dental emergency, and what to do first.
Comfort & care
Are dental procedures painful?
Comfort is central to how we practise. Gentle, minimally invasive techniques and modern local anaesthetic mean most procedures are far more comfortable than people expect. We explain each step before it happens and stop whenever you need a break.
I’m anxious about the dentist. Can you help?
Absolutely — and you’re far from alone. Tell us when you book: we’ll schedule extra time, walk you through everything in advance, and agree on a signal so you’re always in control. We also offer sedation if you’d like more than local freezing to stay comfortable.
Do you offer sedation for nervous patients?
Yes — nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas. You breathe it through a small mask over your nose, it takes the edge off while leaving you awake and able to talk to us, and it clears within minutes of us switching it off, so you can normally drive yourself home afterwards. It suits long-standing dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or a longer procedure you’d rather not sit through fully alert. That is the only form of sedation we provide — we are not an asleep-dentistry clinic, and if you need more than nitrous can offer we will say so and refer you on. Whether it’s suitable depends on your health history and any medications you take, so we’ll go through it together before anything is booked. More about sedation and dental anxiety.
Do you use digital X-rays?
Yes. Digital X-rays and iTero scanning give us faster, more precise images with less radiation than traditional film — and we’ll show you what we see on screen so you understand your own mouth.
When should my child first see a dentist?
We recommend a first visit between ages one and three. Early visits are short and positive — the goal is a child who grows up thinking the dentist is no big deal. Dr. Chopra is a general dentist with a special interest in treating children.
Treatments
Do you offer teeth whitening?
Yes — safe, dentist-supervised whitening with properly fitted trays and controlled concentrations for even results and minimal sensitivity.
Do you provide dental implants?
Yes. Implants replace missing teeth with a titanium post and a natural-looking crown — the closest thing to getting your own tooth back.
Do you offer clear aligners?
Yes — ClearCorrect clear aligner treatment planned with digital 3D scanning: a custom series of thin, clear trays worn 20–22 hours a day, for teens and adults who want straighter teeth without brackets and wires.
Do you offer dental bonding?
Yes — composite bonding is one of our favourite conservative fixes for chips, gaps, and worn edges. See cosmetic dentistry.
Costs & insurance
Do you accept dental insurance or offer financing?
We work with a range of insurance plans and offer flexible payment options. Share your plan details when you book and we’ll help you understand your coverage before treatment begins.
Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
Yes — Smilo Family Dental in London, Ontario is a participating CDCP provider, and we bill the plan directly, so you won’t pay the full cost up front or chase reimbursement yourself. You may qualify if your adjusted family net income is under $90,000, you and your spouse or partner have filed last year’s taxes as Canadian residents, and you have no access to private dental insurance — including through work, a pension, a family member’s plan, or a professional or student organization, even if you never use it. How much the plan pays depends on your income: 100% of its established fees under $70,000, 60% between $70,000 and $79,999, and 40% between $80,000 and $89,999. Where a provider’s fee is higher than the plan’s established fee, the difference is payable to the provider — we’ll go through every cost with you first. Apply at canada.ca/dental, or call us and we’ll walk you through it. More about CDCP coverage.
Will I know costs before treatment starts?
Always. Every treatment plan comes with costs in writing, and for larger treatments we’ll help you submit a pre-determination to your insurer so you know what’s covered before you commit.
